Grit Running Center

Grit Running Center was founded to build an inclusive and supportive community of runners, helping them achieve their goals both on their runs and in their lives. When owners Zaira and Chris approached me, they had a clear vision: to create a diverse and welcoming space for runners of all levels.

Through our conversations, I learned that their passion for running was deeply connected to nature and heavily inspired by their physiotherapist, Kip, who hails from Kenya and works with elite athletes. During one of our early meetings, Kip shared this powerful quote:

"Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle—when the sun comes up, you’d better be running."

Originally, the Grit team envisioned a lion for their logo, but after further research, I realized that a gazelle might better align with their mission and values. I presented both options, and the team immediately connected with the gazelle, making it the heart of their branding.

This project was an exciting opportunity to craft an identity that embodies resilience, movement, and community—just like Grit Running Center itself.
